To date, the response to the COVID-19 pandemic at the federal level has been inadequate, resulting in fragmented national policies, unnecessary mortality and economic damage, and successful disinformation campaigns by both domestic and foreign entities. A core issue is the failure to understand, and properly organize and manage, medical infrastructure as a regional, national, and global asset. Experience from other engineered systems, such as urban transportation systems, electric grids, and communications networks suggests ways in which medical infrastructure resilience can be improved, which may be of immediate interest given the high probability of a second wave of infection later in 2020. Dr. Braden Allenby has presented twice from the CIR stage, including at Journalism under Fire in 2019. He is a true Renaissance Man able to connect the dots in fascinating and unique ways.
